Anyone ever had a shave biopsy done on their face?

I've had a dark, reddish mark on my nose for 1.5 yrs. I've been to 5 dermatologists and haven't had a solid diagnosis.

Two of the doctors think it's a sun spot, one thought it could be discoid lupus and others just don't know.

Most of them suggest a biopsy of the spot because then we'll know how to treat it. The most recent doctor said she could take a tiny amount of skin and the most I'd be left with is a tiny scar.

The mark really bothers me so I'd like to know what it is. I'm terrified of the biopsy and the chance of scarring, nearly to the point where I don't know if I can go through with it.

Any advice from anyone whose had it done? Was it bad? Did it scar?
