Does the withdrawal method really work???

I just had my Mirena removed a month ago. I'm currently not on any birth control and me and my fiancé are using the withdrawal method. I read that if done correctly only 4% of women get pregnant. So are any women out there doing it as well with no problem or scares.???

My boyfriend & I have been using the withdrawal method for 2.5 years. He just needs to be aware of when it's time to pull out.

When done perfectly it's 95% effective, but with average use it is only 73% effective. So real world, 27 out of 100 women get pregnant using withdrawal alone.

Statistics don't mean squat because if recent studies that found out some men always produce sperm in their precum while others don't. During the study these results were consistent. So you have no way of knowing if the pull out method would work for you if you've never had your partner's precum tested for traces of sperm. It only takes one.

I've been using it for awhile. This month we kind of screwed up. He came then stuck it back in on my fertile days. Some precum can carry sperm. I've read studies that not all guys carry it though. But if he sticks it back in without urinating, there's a chance of pregnancy. Not one study can agree with another so I don't really recommend the pull out method unless you both will be ok if a baby happens.

I've known of SEVERAL pregnancies that resulted from it. Use spermicide in conjunction with it, perhaps?

The only way pre cum has any sperm in it is if the male recently ejaculated, if he hasn't then there is no sperm in pre cum. Get him to pee before sex and it will clean out anything in the urethra if you are concerned. The biggest part of making the pull out method work is the timing the male pulls out. If he can pull out a good amount of time before he ejaculates then you have no concerns, however if he is not good at recognizing when he needs to pull out then yes you risk becoming pregnant. My s/o and I have been using the pull out method for a year and a half up until a few months ago as we are now ttc.

Not really.  You can still get preg on pre cum. Just take extra caution when u are ovulating.
