Personally, I think Ellie is s nickname. Short for Ellen, Eleanor, Eliana, etc. You could consider a longer name that might fit better as an adult, then she can choose what she wants to go by - the full name or the nickname.

I was going to name my daughter Ellie but I think it's more of a nickname (my opinion). I think Elizabeth, Ellen, Ellena, etc. works better and instead use Ellie as a nickname. If you absolutely love the name try a different spelling to edge it out a bit. We were going to spell her name Elleigh. We totally dropped the name and went with Bella Scottlyn though haha

I always recommend people to pick names that sounds great as children names and as professional adult names. What if she grows up to be a doctor or high-powered attorney? You want a strong name that doesn't sound kiddie like. I love the nickname Ellie, but you might try give her a longer full name she can use when she's older. For ex: my friend Carly uses her full name Carlynn now that she's older. Same for Cassie/Cassondra.

My cousin's daughter is named Ella, that would go as an adult and can still do Ellie as a child. Ella is a bit more contemporary now too. Maybe I'm partial to the name bc she's so stinkin cute but I love it 😀
