Is it necessary to buy baby specific laundry detergent like Dreft? Or is regular detergent ok?

I think All free and clear is fine. Or Norwex or and kind of chemical free detergent.

I like All Free&Clear. No dyes or perfumes, has a mix with oxyclean already in it (which worked well on spit-up/diaper stains), and is cheaper than "baby detergent". And rather than buying two different kinds of soap so baby could have its own special one, we buy one brand and can use it on everyone's clothes.

I use Tide Free and Clear, then when that ran out I just use regular Tide and she's fine.

I voted "any detergent", but that's not necessarily true... I just meant that it didn't have to be Dreft or another "just for babies"-type detergent! I always used ALL Free & Clear, so I was able to use it for my own clothes too! ッ

I use special baby detergent because babies are very sensitive.  Maybe in the USA there are other detergents than what I have here, so look at the ingredients

I started with defer on my first son. Moved to tide. It was an unnecessary expense. 3 kids later it still isn't necessary and doesn't make a lick of difference lol.

I used it. Just depends on how sensitive the baby's skin is. Probably should buy something fragrance free and/or made for sensitive skin at first just incase the baby had a bad reaction to the  detergent you buy.

I didn't really like Dreft. It had a pretty strong fragrance and I didn't know how that matched up with being a better choice for the baby. I used ALL's hypoallergenic detergent and had no issues with that.
