Starting Clomid before AF?

Question

1st cycle of Clomid (50mg) my largest follicle was only 11cm and my Progestrone level was on .6. My OB said I should go ahead and start my 2nd cycle of Clomid and don't need to wait for my period (due next Fri) before starting since I most likely am not ovulating.

So starting cycle 2 at 100mg this time. Has anyone ever started Clomid before a period like this?

How long do you have to TTC  in order to get clomid ?

Yeah I've taken clomid for 5 cycles this time and 4 before my ectopic pregnancy and 3 drs have told me take it days 3-7 or 5-9

I'm starting my second round on day 3 of my cycle. From what I've known and heard you take clomid during cycle not before
