Does castor oil actually induce labor?

I'm 38 weeks 5 days and just took castor oil for the first time today to try and induce labor, I'm curious if this has worked for anyone and how long it took after taking castor oil before you went into labor. I'm getting extremely anxious and have been in a lot of pain. Curious to know so I can have my little boy in my arms.

I do yoga and there a squatting move the instructor recommends anyone over 30 doesn't so bc she claims in can induce labor. Feet pointed out, elbows to inner knees, booty just above the floor and you press your pelvis forward (spreading your legs back). Called malasana or garland pose.

I tried everything, literally everything and nothing worked. Baby comes when baby is ready I think. Not long now for you, I know the last few weeks are tough. X

It basically causes severe cramping and diarrhea ... Which can kick start labor IF baby is ready. Otherwise, you'll just feel crummy. Yuck.

Not a great idea it can make baby poo in the waters which then can lead to fetal distress , I wouldn't carry on taking it , baby will come when ready x

Did anyone try spicy foods, sex or walking and have it work either?

I did the castor oil at just about 42 weeks when they made the appointment to induce few days later. I was terrified of being induced.  It made me so sick and caused my water to break but did not induce labor. After my water broke I still had to have pitocin to cause contractions and dilation. I do not recommend! The cramping and running to the bathroom that comes with the castor oil did nothing, and I had to be induced anyway.

It does work but wouldn't advise it. It puts the baby into shock. My sister took it with her wee girl and she was born by emergency section 8hours later due to heart rate of 300+ My sister now has a zig zag shaped scar due to fact they ripped her open as they only had minutes to get baby out.

It did for my mum but it also made her violently ill (which probably stressed her body so much my baby sister followed shortly after).

Normally it gives you the shits. And can cause baby to stress and poop in utero. Hope you have no issues.
