Having PVCs, should I call?
I'll start by saying that I was diagnosed about 5 years ago with an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia, PVCs). Basically, my heart beats like everyone else's but instead of being a consistent 1-2 beat, I have a 1-2-pause and then a harder secondary beat before the pattern starts back over. I also sometimes have an extra beat that originates from the lower part of my heart.
After many tests I was determined to be otherwise healthy and to just avoid caffeine.
Normally it's not a bother during the day; however, last night I couldn't fall asleep because I could feel the pounding beats and fluttering in my chest and it kept me awake.
This morning it's still very noticeable.
I read somewhere that due to hormonal changes in the body it's common for pregnant women to experience arrhythmia (up to 60% do...so says the article) and to develop PVCs.
I have my first appointment in 3 days so I'm wondering if I should just wait out and see if it gets better and just tell the OB then.
So... my questions are...
Should I call my OB?
Should I call my primary family physician?
Should I wait 3 days for my 1st appointment?
Did you or someone you know experience any of these symptoms while pregnant?
Im not interested in going to sit in an emergency room hooked up to a monitor that will tell the doctors what I already know is happening. Been there, done that, paid that bill...
