Any moms have, or have not gotten Tdap shot?

I'm just curious on opinion about shot. 
I don't plan on getting the shot myself (maybe in hospital) 
- I've read it doesn't actually prevent whooping cough but can have birth effects on heart & lungs of baby.

How many moms received shot, or not received & why?

Anything that you have read about it not working and causing birth defects is false. It is in the best interest for you and your baby to get that shot!

I'm current on my Tdap, but will get a booster if suggested. It's a pretty gnarly shot; last time I got it I don't feel good for a bit- but that always happens for me when I get vaccines. My body is sensitive. 
Whooping cough can kill a baby, so if I can protect mine by getting a shot, I certainly will.

I got it, as did my husband and our daughter due to an outbreak of whooping cough in our daughters school. Better safe than sorry when it comes to the little one.

I got mine in the hospital after I had my baby. My doctor didn't offer it and I would have refused anyways in the event that I had a reaction to the shot and there just aren't enough studies to weigh the pros and cons. I had my husband get the shot as well the same day.

I received it. It gives the baby protection from whooping cough up to 6mo after if you are breast feeding, due to the transfer of your antibodies to them.

Since the baby cannot receive the vaccines until 3mo-1year it is the best way to prevent complications from a completely preventable sickness that causes a high rate of death an infants. Your husband should receive a tdap booster as well to attempt to prevent any spreading from him to the baby

I got it and so will my BF. My ex's niece and nephew got whooping cough and it was awful. I want my baby protected until he gets his own shots. If an adult or child isn't vaccinated they won't be coming near my baby!

I am already up to date on my TDAP from working in a medical office, but will be getting another in the 3rd trimester to pass some immunity on to my baby.

I'm getting it and so if family that will be around our baby. It's fairly common in Texas and I don't want to chance anything. Seeing my baby that sick would break my heart. If there is a chance I can stop that from happening, I will.

i got it because my doctor basically scared me into it. said it would give baby the antibodies needed to fight it. didnt ask about whooping cough numbers in my area like i would of i had the hance to redo the situation. ask about numbers in your area and how long it's been administered to pregnant ladies. ask your family and seek help from midwives as well.

I am getting it and so are my family members. As others have said it does protect the baby after it is born, but also adults can be carriers of whooping cough without actually getting the disease. If you or a family member are unknowingly around someone with whooping cough you could pass it to your baby and as an infant the disease can have deviating effects. Vaccination is very important!
