9 weeks is "out of the woods"

I had my appointment a few weeks ago, and my doctor mentioned that I will be "out of the woods" at 9 weeks. That the miscarriage risk is much lower after 9 weeks. I always thought it was 12... I was just curious if anyone else had heard this or what your thoughts were. I'm 7w2d today. I know that there is always a small chance of miscarriage, but he said the majority of them is before 9 weeks, and the risk at 10 weeks or 25 weeks (for example) is the same.
