How are you guys handling a drinking spouse?

Question

My husband has continued with his lifestyle of drinking. I don't expect him to give it up completely...but I also don't think you need to drink 6 nights a week. He doesn't get where I'm coming from.

I would be very disappointed if my husband drank 6 days a week.  I'm sorry :(. It definitely seems like you need to find a way to convince him that this is unacceptable.

I was raise by an alcoholic father who drank hard liquor all day long 7 days a week. Living with that is miserable. 
 If your husband is only having a beer or two, I wouldn't complain but if it's heavy drinking, he needs to cut back. There's a huge difference between an alcohol addiction and jealousy. I used to love wine before I got pregnant and my husband drinks it or beer on weekends and it doesn't bother me a bit.

Are you upset because you feel he drinks too much or because he can drink and you can't?

Those are 2 very different things to be handled very differently.

My husband used to have a few beers after work, then he just stopped. Until we went out the other night and he had 9 beers, we'll the hangover the next day made sure he didn't do it again

It was tough at first but 7 months in a really don't have an urge to drink, yes sometimes I would love a beer but last for about a minute and it's gone. I wouldn't really expect him to give up drinking, he has a stressful job and needs time to unwind so his not grumpy at home. I'll go to the bar and sit and chug away at a water and order dessert instead of a beer :) we also have a kegerator in our house which he is going to get me a keg of my favorite beer a few weeks before my due date to its waiting there for me :)

My husband has cut back. We used to go to the bar together a lot. We have saved a lot of money! I guess I wouldn't care if he drank 6 days a week as long as he continued to function well overall by being very caring and supportive

Was sooooooo tough at first (mostly because I was just jealous LOL) but now it's getting easier. He wanted to cut back on his drinking on his own so luckily I didn't have to say anything! He just drinks beer on the weekends or special events now.

I don't handle it well to watch my spouse drink. I've made the point that I shouldn't be the only one to make changes and sacrifices for this baby. My body, my hormones, my changes..he can be considerate and give a little too.  He does pretty good for the most part. During my last pregnancy I suggested he give up drinking all together for the 2nd half and he pretty much did.  Plus the smell of the rum he drinks makes me so sick.
