Unlikely to Get Pregnant During Period?

Question

Why is it that people say that it's harder for you or unlikely for you to get pregnant during your period? I don't understand why they say that.

Because it is harder and unlikely to. Not impossible though. Depends on your cycle and when you ovulate. Some women ovulate super close after their periods which makes it entirely possible to become pregnant. Some women don't which would make it impossible.

The lining that is released during your period is what would feed a growing embryo during implantation.  Also ovulation averagely occurs 12-14 days prior to menstruating (varies especially with age and conditions such as pcos) and an egg only survives for a short amount of time. So usually pregnancy cannot occur at this time. There's always that one in a million though. But really, get educated on your cycle. It's pretty cool what nature gives us and why!

Because as the lining of your uterus is coming off there's no way for the egg to implant and stick. So technically you can't get pregnant during sex. You can get pregnant shortly afterwards of you ovulate shortly after your period and have short cycles.

Your period ultimately is set up to prepare your body to get pregnant, so when your menstrual cycle comes and your eggs haven't met a sperm, they're all released and flushed out of your body. Basically unused or dead eggs come out with your flow. Before your period comes is probably one of the best times to try to get pregnant or when you ovulate. Ovulation usually are the "pre-stomach cramps" you get before your period starts.
