Is it ok to host your own shower?

This is our second baby girl. With our first, everyone came out of the woods wanting to host and I had two showers. We don't need anything - I mean diapers are always appreciated ;) but I won't be including where we are registered at - I just want to have a big celebration with friends and family. My friend offered to help but it wasn't an offer to host. Can we just do it or is it really tacky?
