Experience with D&C?

Question

I go back to the doctor on Tuesday for a final diagnosis of miscarriage as my labs do not look promising. Went to the doctor thinking I was 8 1/2 weeks pregnant and only a yolk sac on ultrasound. I'm guessing that a D&C will be next. Can anyone please give their experiences… Negative or positive.  Thank you.

Sorry to hear that :( I had one last January and had no bleeding and no pain afterwards. I couldn't even tell I had had an operation. The first time we had sex afterwards was a little painful but that was my husbands fault for getting carried away! It did take me 11 weeks to get a period after though which felt like a lifetime as we wanted to ttc straight away. Good luck x

Lots of cramping during the procedure. I was given antibiotics & valum an hour before. I was awake the whole time. They told me they only put you under if your really far along. They gave me a shot of something right before, I don't know what it's called but it made me really loopy. The whole thing lasted 5 mins or so. It's hard after words emotionally. Heating pads really help after words & I was prescribed Vicodin for the cramping.

I was put to sleep for mine (not pregnancy related). There was a lot of bleeding afterwards and I felt awful for around a week bleeding lasted that whole time. Much like a heavy period.

With mine I went in at 5am and was put into a holding area where they started an IV the. My doctor came over and spoke to me and asked if I had any questions and I was so drowsy I was talking out of my ass having a good time. lol. They wheeled me into a room and told me to count to ten and by the time I hit 5 I was out.. When I woke up I was in recovery and they called my husband in the waiting room and told him I was awake and I was ok. About an hour later they took me into another room where I was greeted by my husband and mom and changed back into my regular clothes and then I went home. I barely bled and I had no pain. They told me I was going to cramp pretty bad but I took my medicine the way they directed me to and I felt zero pain. Everyone could tell when my medicine started to wear off because I started crying about how much I missed my baby.

I was put to sleep. When I woke up I was a little drowsy but wasn't in any kind of pain. I stayed in the hospital for about 2 hours after that where they brought me breakfast. Once they saw I ate and held it down and also peed normally they let me go home. They said I may feel some cramping and have light bleeding. I went home and went back to sleep. I only bled a little bit over the next few days and my cramping was very minimal. I guess everyone's experience is different and it depends on different factors.

I had one a little over a year ago.

I remember before I went in I was hanging out with my husband and parents and then they wheeled me away and then I woke up with a bunch of people over me and the wheeled me back into the hospital room and my hubby and parents came back in to see me. I know it scared my husband because I was incredibly pale, but I felt fine, a little sore later but fine. The hospital staff was so friendly and caring and compassionate though. Honestly I was just thankful to have it over with.

I have had two i honestly  felt like i was having a very heavy  period  i didnt have alot of pain just some cramping,.

A close friend of mine opted not to have the D&C and just took the medication, which ended up being a big nightmare for her. Eight weeks of bleeding, followed by the inevitable D&C. Just some food for thought in trying to make this complicated emotional process a bit easier. Good luck 💗💗💗
