Migraines: What will be the best birth control pill/method for someone who suffers of migraine headaches?

Lately I haven't had that many migraines, however, I've been told that birth control pills has a high doze of estrogen which can always trigger my migraines. Also, I don't want to deal with the side effects of birth control pills! So having say this I'm not sure what my options would be or what can I do to have protected sex. I'm in a monogamous relationship and just want to be safe and not try to get ourselves pregnant.

I have always had migraines without aura at the start of my period and my gynecologist said it is the drop in hormones that causes the migraines and recommended Mircette. Mircette has 3 weeks of the same amount of hormones, 2 days of no hormones, & 5 days of a low dose of estrogen only. For the first few years, I stopped having migraines during my period. Last year, I started having migraines again so my doctor told me to skip the period week and take the pills continuously. I've been doing that since January, I now average 1 migraine a month. It's been a huge help for me.

I chose to stop taking hormonal birth control because of the fact that it was making my migraines worse. My husband and I use the Fertility Awareness Method and condoms. We've been doing it this way for a little under a year and no pregnancies yet.
