Interstitial cystitis?!

Anyone have it / know the symptoms? What helps?

I've had it for almost 7 years now. I was terrified too thinking I would have to have this pain my whole life, but changing some things has made it almost nonexistent, now it only rarely flares up. Like the other ladies said, change to all cotton underwear or use a liner, this is tremendously helpful! Also, for me personally, I had to change my diet in a big way, certain things I was eating or drinking set it off badly. It took me a while to narrow down which foods or drinks were causing the problem, but once I figured it out they are easily avoided and I have less flare ups. The thing that helped me the most though was taking to tablespoons a day of Braggs apple cider vinager. Sounds weird but someone I know suffered from interstitial cystitis and said it was a lifesaver for them. I tried it and it CHANGED MY LIFE. But the main thing about interstitial cystitis is that it is usually different for each person, so you kind of just have to try alot of stuff before you find out what works for you. Hope this helps, and just know that it does get better!

I did a lot of research on this when I thought I had it.  How long have you had symptoms.  What symptoms are you having?  I can give you lots of info.

Mainly before and during my period I get these urethral spasms.  And bladder pain. It's not constant. It comes and goes.  Thru the month I notice it at times.  But I don't know what on earth is causing it.  I don't eat anything out of the ordinary. I drink only water. If not tea occasionally. It's been going on for about 4 months.  Again mainly before and during period.  Ugh. Any advice?

I Can't believe I forgot the two biggest changes!!  Switch your underwear to all cotton.  If not wear a panty liner.  No clue if this caused the pee URGE sensation but it almost immediately relieved the urge.  Also pee before AND after sex!
