1st doctor apt?

How come at 8 weeks your 1st doctors appointment they don't do anything but check to see if you are pregnat and check blood? How come there is no ultrasound?

This was from today.. True, not much to see in terms of anatomy, but I got to see the heartbeat, they took a heart rate and measurements to tell me how far I am.. If you look on top right it says lmp 04/23/15 and then under that 8weeks-if they hadn't done an ultrasound now, they'd be crazy off bc I'm only 6/5

In Canada we don't get anything at all until 12 weeks. It's not such a big deal. It's pretty obvious get my symptoms that I'm pregnant. I can wait. Earlier ultrasounds are pretty pointless. There's not much to see.

I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks. I think it just depends on the doctor. I don't go back until 12 weeks because that's when it's guaranteed to HEAR the heartbeat.

My insurance only covers a dating ultrasound (if needed) and an anatomy ultrasound at 20 weeks. Patients are only offered additional ultrasounds if any problems or concerns are found. Early ultrasounds are usually unnecessary (though there may be cases where they're needed). If your doctor doesn't think you need one, it just means that everything is going the way it's supposed to so far!

My first appt I was only seen by a nurse and interviewed about my background and history, and got my blood drawn.
