How early should baby shower invites be mailed?

I said 2 months for two reasons:
1. It gives people the chance to plan to attend, especially summer months when everyone is going on vacations.
2. You'll need time to get responses together and plan for how many people you'll have.

I say 2 weeks. If it's too early people forget. 2 weeks is plenty of time for people to make arrangements and not so early people forget!

I went a month and a half, because if you send them *too* early, you really have to hunt down those RSVPs. That said, if you have a fair amount of out of towners, more notice is always fair. I would personally never do less than a month.. I am a person that always has things scheduled on weekends a month or more out so any late invites usually get turned down!
