PCOS Diagnosis
Well a lot has happened over the past few weeks. My fiance and I were more sexually active then we've been in a while, and when it was time for my period to come, I didn't. So I was so hopeful and excited. After 3 weeks with no signs of my period coming, I took a home pregnancy test. I was a little crushed but still a little hopeful for a false negative. So I called and made an appointment with my doctor. Well today was my appointment, and I learned that I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). I'm sure most of you know what it is. It's where your ovary produces an egg but it doesn't always release it into the Fallopian tubes, instead it becomes a cyst on the ovary. This, in turn causes things like hormone imbalance, weight gain, and much to my dismay, infertility. But after talking the the doctor for nearly 2 hours, she has set me on a very optimistic looking path that will very likely result in pregnancy. For the next three months she's going to have me focus on taking a non birth control pill that will regulate my hormones so I have a semi regular ovulation cycle while also helping me lose weight. Then after that she will be prescribing me Clomid (?) to helps increase my chances of fertility. So as of today I have started my journey to becoming a mother. So my question is, any moms out there that have dealt with PCOS? What kind of experiences did you have? Share your stories with me!
