Hot dogs while pregnant?

I heard your not supposed to eat hot dogs or deli meat while pregnant? Why is this? I ate 2 hot dogs last night and they were sooo good lol but now I feel bad about 😕

My OB and RE told me I could have them as long as they were boiled to over 165. I believe it has to do with listeria?

I love hot dogs, it's okay as long as they were thoroughly cooked.

Doc told me the same things. Deli meats must be eaten fresh at restaurant (right out of fridge/storage) or heated after getting it home prior to eating. Any deli meats I buy at the grocery store I warm before putting in my sandwiches. I was so glad to hear I could eat my sandwiches since that's all I'm craving!!

Ps: last outbreak of listeria was from melons. It is not what you eat, but how you prepare it.

the deli meat should be heated up n the hot dogs need to be all natural, no by-product, etc. n completely cooked throughout. it has to do w/ listeria but trust me i've had a cold ham n cheese or turkey n swiss w/ each pregnancy lol

I was never told about hotdogs but deli meat needs to be cooked first to kill the bacteria it carries

I don't like hot dogs so I just don't eat them but I still eat lunch meat. I ate it with all my pregnancies and all my kids are fine. Baby #6 due in January and I still eat it.
