The Bloat is Real!
Alright ladies, most of you in this February board are between six and ten weeks pregnant. You are all looking beautiful, I'm sure; though, you may not feel that way at this point in your pregnancy. If you're like me, and quite frankly a large percentage of newly pregnant women, you're bloated. Your baby is now between the size of a chocolate chip and a prune, depending on how far along you are. I know you're wondering, if my baby is so small, how can my belly be so big? The answer is bloating. It's perfectly normal to be bloated at this point in pregnancy. You may even feel like you look around four to five months along. Again, this is normal, according to the famous What to Expect When Expecting, Web MD, and ACOG. The bloating is often caused by increased intake of iron. This increase usually comes from iron supplements or the additional iron in your prenatals. Also, the progesterone that is released after becoming pregnant causes your smooth muscles to relax. This may add to the bloating, but also is the cause of your heartburn woes. So, grab some tums, and some stretchy pants, and buckle in for this crazy ride. Splurge on a pair of comfy maternity pants for those extra bloated days. You deserve the little extra room in your waistband. You are in the process of making a person, and you deserve to be comfortable. Show me those lovely bellies mama's and proudly rock those fabulous stretchy yoga pants!
