Would you send ur newborn to a new daycare with a nanny cam? Or would you just blindly trust them with ur 6 week old?

If you're using a daycare, it doesn't matter what age your child is, you need to interview, research, compare, surprise visit, and check up on them anyway.

There's no blind trust going on at any age! Mine started a daycare that had private internet cameras at 6 months, but I also loved the two main classroom teachers. I checked out 5 daycares at the time (they all had cameras), but these teachers were the best. 
   
After she turned a year, I didn't like the new classroom teacher, so we switched to a daycare that only takes kids older than a year. The new one doesn't have cameras but I love and trust the class system, the teachers, the curriculum, the directors, and the reputation. My daughter is also really happy there and learns a ton. She's stoked to go each day, and the community I have with the other parents is great.
   
Trust your feelings that you get from the daycare director and teachers, as well as any signs on your kid. For instance, if your kid gets diaper rash, has red eyes all the time when you pick her up, has indentations from clothing (like she's been kept in the same pisition for hours), etc. then these are signs of negligence. Also, drop conversational hints to the teachers that you are watching the cameras.

Why don't you just choose a daycare that has cameras in every room..?? Most do nowadays. Sneaking in your own camera and not telling anyone = creepy.

I don't do in home daycares. My children go to a centre that is well monitored. In home is way too unregulated.

All of you mommies on here saying, "I would NEVER send my 6 week old to a day care" are being incredibly rude. I think most women would stay home if they were financially able, but most don't have that luxury. The OP was asking if sending a nanny cam was appropriate, not if you supported day care. When a working mother hears, "oh, I wouldn't never send my kids to a daycare" it makes them feel hostile and inferior to SAHM's. Understand that many mothers don't have family to help babysit or a spouse who makes enough money to support the family. Day care is often their ONLY option.

Dont know what I am answering yes and no to here. But where I live it I illegal to videotape people without them knowing it. Also: I think it is highly unethical. Go talk to the people at the place so that you feel secure sending your child there.

I wouldn't do daycare for a six week old. (Yes I understand everyone isn't able to do this). But if I did require a baby sitter I would make them do it in my home and put up cameras.

I would never take my children to daycare, period.  If I wasn't lucky enough to be a SAHM, I would find someone I know really well and trust to watch my children from my home while i was working.  I would never trust a daycare.
