Cervidil??

Question

Anyone with Cervidil experience? I'm getting induced tonight with it at 41+5. Any insights would be great!! Really really wanted to avoid all induction and DO NOT want pitocin. Kind of bummed it's happening this way.

I had two rounds of cervidil with my first induction and it did absolutely nothing for me. Then they did 12 hours of cytotech which also did nothing. Pitocin is the only thing that has kicked my five kids out. My first induction took 47 hours.

If those are the inserts every 4 hours, they really helped kick start labor immediately for me. I didn't even need all of them. It made me thin out and contract. They don't really help dilate but more so thin. I was induced with them in the evening and my water broke on its own at 6AM. They did give me small doses of pitocin, but I'm sure I didn't have to have it because they stopped it because I was progressing fast enough and contractions were literally on top of each other. 12pm I was at a 10 and I had my daughter by 12:22pm.

So... My update. Started Cervidil at 7 pm last night and midwife stopped it at 3 am due to too many contractions. They kept going until I begged for an epidural at 11 am. As soon as that was in (amazing) I was informed I needed an emergency c section due to baby's heart rate. Baby was born at 11:26 am with cord around neck. Not how I wanted it AT ALL but a beautiful healthy baby!!

I only had mine in for about 3 hours and it made my labor come very fast. I barely needed pitocin and after it started I had my son 6 hours later

Thanks! As of 2 days ago I was 1 cm and soft and 60-70% effaced. Doesn't sound like Cervidil will do much for me but I'll let you all know!!

When I had my miscarriage at 18 weeks, cervidil is what they used to induce labor for me. I wasn't dilated what-so-ever and the entire process start to finish was approximately 12ish hours. My contractions were horrendous, so they gave me some morphine for the pain. Good luck with your induction, honey! I hope all goes well for you! Btw, I may try cervidil again with this pregnancy if I have to be induced (I'm 38+1).

I'd like to know how it goes for you, I get it Thursday night and most i speak to gets the other one that a lot of hospitals won't use. My drs said it usually takes 8 hours. I've done all the research I can on it but it doesn't help much. Good luck.

I had it when I got induced 3 months ago. I was already dilated 2cm and my cervix was already super soft so they only did two rounds of it. Then they did Pitcoin, my whole labor was 16 hours and she came out after less then 10 mintues of pushing.
