Marathon while pregnant?

okay, hear me out on this and please be kind with any comments that you might decide to leave. I am an avid long distance runner and I have logged 40-45 miles of running a week for the past 2 years. I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and completed a half marathon yesterday. I'm registered to run a marathon when I am 17 weeks. I will of course ask my doctor for advice but do you think I should still run it so long as I'm having a healthy pregnancy with no complications and my doctor approves?

My friend was a marathon runner. Her doc said it was ok as her body was already conditioned for it. It would not be safe to start to train in early pregnancy. Your doc knows you best though

Go for it. If the doctor doesn't have a reason for concern then you should be fine.

My cousin ran a half marathon when she was 6/7 months along. Her doc approved, as she had been a distance runner prior to pregnancy.  One tip - remove your ring. Her finger swelled so bad she had to stop for ice to get it to go down and the ring off.

I agree with these ladies, I'm a runner as well and my doctor told me my body was already used to running as well, also Stay hydrated and listen to your body as the ladies have said, slow down and walk or stop if you need too. Walking/running definitely helped keep my muscles for pushing strong. I pushed 3 times and that's it. I was back at my initial weight 6 weeks after. Keep up the good work 😃😃😃

Get it girl! Invest in one of those belly supports, though. I had to stop running in my first trimester (a lot of barfing), now I jog, but won't get back to my prepreggo mileage until after I have the baby. but my friends who were able to maintain their regime swear by the thing! I'll be cheering for you!!

Do it! My friend ran a 10K the morning she delivered. You're pregnant, not sick!

Why not? I've always been told as long as it's not HIIT and you're already use to it, you're good.I'm actually quite impressed because the nausea was so bad in the beginning and pain was so real that I had to slow WAY down.I'm envious.

Absolutely! Just make sure to listen to your body, and don't focus on time or even finishing. There is absolutely no shame in stopping if you need to, everyone else will understand as well. That is an awesome story you'll be able to tell your baby when they grow up!

If you were doing this before you got pregnant then it's fine, remember to stay hydrated and good luck :)

Yes, if the doctor says it's ok! But listen to your body.
