Wine while pregnant?

How many of you ladies were told it's okay to have a glass of wine by your doctor?

Answer

The scientific community has never established a safe amount to drink during pregnancy (and probably never will).

Some women drink all through their pregnancy and their babies turn out fine. Some women don't drink at all and they turn out fine. The opposite of both groups can be examined too.

My doc said its better to abstain. I don't see a point in risking it. I never liked wine anyways.

In the end it's a personal choice between you and your doc. Examine the evidence and make the decision you're most comfortable with.

I had a friend that drank beer throughout her pregnancy and her daughter was born without a vaginal opening and anus. In my opinion it's not safe for you to drink during pregnancy. It's only 10 months of going without to have a healthy baby. I'm sure she did other things and probably got drunk when she did drink. Not sure we stopped being friends. I hated what she did to that poor baby.

I've been told a 4oz glass of red once a week after the first trimester is fine because it increases blood flow and relaxes you.

My doctor said a glass every now and then is ok.  I've had one glass my whole pregnancy.  With the heartburn I really don't want any.

I was told by my healthcare provider I could have one serving in a day every so often. I believe it is fine.

I don't drink, But yes my doctor told me a few glasses of wine.. A Guinness etc was fine during pregnancy

I had a glass of wine every now and then with my first pregnancy and it never caused any problems. A glass of wine every now and then is not harmful in my opinion. As long as you're not getting a buzz.
