Cord blood banking ?

Anyone doing cord blood banking? We are torn. If you are or aren't and have an opinion about it, could you express it. Thanks!

We wanted to donate originally, but it's not an option at our hospital and after doing more research we've decided to prolong cord clamping because that cord blood is better put to use by my baby.

We aren't going to do it. From what I've read, it isn't able to help your child if they develop a medical condition that it could benefit, as the cord blood will have the same condition. It is better for helping family members or other siblings. Plus, the cost of collecting and storing is not cheap. If you have a family history of serious health conditions, it might be worth looking into.

We are doing in this time because one of my other daughters is almost done with her treatment for leukemia (remission for two years!) and if she has a relapse, we can use this baby's blood to help her. We never banked the other two kids though. I was going to donate my second's but ran into trouble and never did.

We are considering delayed clamping, which prevents cord blood banking. So probably not.

Forgot to mention , it seems like with most cord banking places you pay a monthly fee to store it. I think it's kinda steep and it in our budget but I just wanted to get your opinions
