Kids in delivery room?

How many of u R going to have Ur toddler or older kid with u in the delivery room? What R ur views on this?

No I don't think it's appropriate what if something goes wrong? They could be traumatised, even if it goes perfectly it's not something that's pretty!

I think that it's great and not something to judge other parents about. Birth is a natural human process. I don't believe it's inappropriate at all for children to be there. They might get scared at some point, but just gently explain to them that this is what mommies have to do to bring brothers and sisters into the world. I love the idea of making your whole family a part of the birth. Everyone may not want that, and that's okay, but I don't think calling another parent out for choosing it is okay.

A lady I know had her 8 year old in there and she told everyone that her mom pooped out that baby... Not sure it's something they need to be a part of.  After for sure.. I think it would scare a toddler or maybe they wouldn't even understand depends on age I guess.

My son is 14 months old (he'll be 16 mo when baby's born) and he definitely won't be in the room. I'm going to have all my focus on my contractions and focusing on dealing with the pain, my son doesn't need to see his mommy in pain. Labor takes so much concentration why try to be stressed?

Coming from a L&D nurse view...I think it's probably not the best idea. There have been some pretty scary things that I would hate for a child to see. They don't understand and usually become very restless, I mean labor can take a LONG time. Most parents become frustrated because they can't adequately tend to the child and it makes it hard because the main focus is taken away from the true patient.

I'm going to have my 15 year old daughter in the delivery room but that was totally her choice. She's very mature and I know she can handle it. A toddler would prob be terrified😁.

Haha no I def will not have my son in the room. He'll only be 7, I don't think that's very appropriate for a child

I don't think it's a good idea kids don't like pain as it is and if they see you in pain I'm scared it may freak them out.. But a friend if mine has a 16 year old daughter n just had her second child n she was in the room cuz she wanted too , so in that case it's ok I guess.

I'm going to give my daughter the option on what she wants to do, but she is 12, so I will not have to worry about taking care of her. If she was any younger I wouldn't even consider it.
