Baby in delivery room?

Question

My daughter is a year old and she'll be a year and a half when baby is due (December 2015)
My boyfriend says that we should have her in the room with us when I deliver but I told him I don't think it's appropriate and she can get fussy, I definitely would rather her have someone taking care of her than have her in the delivery room 
What do you ladies think? And what did you do with your kid/s when you delivered?
We have options of who we can leave her with so leaving her with someone is not a problem

I use to work in l&d, and I alwaysfelt so bad for The young kids that were in the delivery room with the parents. You won't get any rest, and your baby might start freaking out when she sees all the blood and hears all the screaming by you and the new baby. She is too young to understand what is going on. I would feel bad cause I worked the night shift and theses babies were so tired and they just wanted to sleep and they couldn't. At a year and a half she just wants to play or do her thing and she will be very limited to what she can do there. Have someone watch her and you and your husband enjoy this time together, bring her up after you are done recovering.

I just think that's an awful idea. Seeing all that could be scarring and your husband should be focused 100% on you and the new baby for those hours. Send her somewhere she will be comfortable and taken care of. You don't know what could go wrong or how long it could take. And what if you needed a c section? You'd have to go in by yourself so he could stay with your daughter.

Yah that's not appropriate. And labour can go a long time. I was in labour for 18 hours and we were in a small room pretty much. The only people that should be there are the people who are supporting you during labour & delivery.
My son will be staying with my mum at home to keep him on schedule and he's almost 6yo.

I delivered my twin sons 10 days before my daughter turned 2 and there is no way I was going to have her in the room. I left her with family members. This time around my daughter will be 7 and she will be allowed in the room but my aunt will be there in case she can't handle it or just needs to get out. My twins will be 5 and are staying with family cause they are just too hyper and would be in the way.

I plan to have my parents to watch my daughter. She is seven. I think that is something for you and the dad. Plus don't you think it would scare a kid to see mommy in pain. Or to see all that going on? I feel like my daughter would get scared to death and then not like the baby bc of the pain he or she put me through. My daughter is a very protective little girl when it comes to me. Lol

My in laws are watching my kids (10&3). I think it would be too distracting & possibly emotional especially for my 3 year old to see Mommy in pain.
