Painting babys room.

Is it Okay for me to be painting the babys room? I've been doing it one wall at a time but we are painting over really dark paneling so I'm doing white paint with primer in it to start with but one coat doesn't seem to be covering it so we are going to have to do two and then in September when we find out what we are having we are going to paint the color over. But I don't want to harm my baby by being in the room for so long while painting. I'm 14 weeks have any of you other mommies painted the room this much with not problem?
