Dehydration is real
Boo. I've never been great at staying hydrated, but especially since I stopped commuting and started working exclusively from home, I spend so much time just sitting in bed with sleeping dogs and working on my laptop that I don't even think about getting up to get a glass of water. Anyway, yesterday I finally took my lunch break close to 3, called it a day and went to run errands, and just driving in the car made me feel really off--heart racing, a little queasy, definitely tense. I went into the pharmacy and took a BP reading--144/99. The RN at my office had me come in to test again and even though she got it down to normal by having me relax and lay on my left side, the doc wanted me to get a full work up at the hospital. Ended up in L&D for 3+ hours on an IV and monitors, round of blood work, US, etc., just to be told I wasn't getting enough fluids. (Though I'm sure the stress of my SIL having moved in when I was 8 months pregnant and making more work instead of less in the house is not helping my anxiety levels, but that's a whole other story...)
Anyway, I feel really stupid that I put myself and the baby in a position like that just because I wasn't paying attention to my water intake. Just a PSA to mamas that dehydration can cause more complications than you might think, and it's easy to get dehydrated when it's as hot and humid as it's been here on the east coast.
