What is letrozole?

I am currently on clomid but I talked to another doctor who will possibly try letrozole. Can someone please let me know what it is and what I should expect? Symptoms? Do I have to get blood work done? Any info would be great!

I like Letrozole/Femara better than Clomid. Everyone's bodies are different. I had less side effects of Letrozole than Clomid. Just a little moody and more tired. Best of luck!

Letrozole makes me super sleepy ( I have to take it at night), thirsty, unmotivated, a little depressed and on the 4th and 5th day I get a little agitated (the hubby isn't a fan if those days). All in all its not bad.

Letrozole isn't FDA approved for fertility, it's actually a medication used for postmenopausal women with breast cancer. They just happened to find out that it also works pretty well with helping women, with fertility issues, ovulate. It has less side effects than clomid and in some cases works better than clomid. I actually ovulated for the first time in over a year on my first cycle using it! Good luck!

I have never taken Clomid. I just took my first round of Letrozole this cycle. The only side effects I had were being very tired & very thirsty. It worked well for me because I ovulated and had 2 big follicles and we were able to do our first IUI last week!

Letrozole is an alternative when clomid does not work, your side effects should be milder than with clomid. For me the only thing i notice is the hot flashes
