Abusive Relationship?

Question

This isn't really pregnancy related, though I am 19 weeks pregnant. I just want to take a survey. How would you  know if you were in an emotionally abusive relationship? I may be so entrenched in it that I'm not sure if that's what's going on. Thank you

I was in a 4 year long emotional train wreck. Controlling, manipulative, lashed out with hurtful words. I wasn't even allowed to have money from my own paychecks. He held it all, and gave me an allowance pretty much (in the end it was only enough for gas). Whenever I'd have a little more, I'd go out to eat with a friend, like panera or some cheap quick food place, and he would get mad. After while I stopped telling him anything in fear of how he'd react. At that point he turned on some tracker on my iPhone that he could use with his phone. Didn't know about it till around when I broke up with him (which took three tries to do 'cause he kept threatening suicide). He even got black out drunk and tried to kill one of my best guy friends out of jealousy. Spent a good weekend in jail that weekend, which happened to be my birthday. And I had a good birthday that year too, go figure huh.

If you feel hurt by something. Talk about it. If you're in fear to communicate those thoughts because he might do something harmful, there's an issue. I'm in a new relationship now and expecting our lovely ball of a baby in April, and sometimes I'm afraid to communicate my problems only because of my last relationship, even though I know 100% that my man now is not even close to my old relationship. Whenever my boyfriend raises his hand just for he heck of it, to grab something or stretch, I flinch badly, and he apologizes and then I feel bad. Don't let it get to that point. If you think there's a problem to fix, then by all means try and fix it, but sometimes things break to the point where it's unfixable. Don't let it drag you down. And just know, whatever it is, you can talk to me about it because i understand and my backbone is stronger and bitchier than ever because of my ex.

Nasty names if he was mad at me. Eventually he started to hit me, and tell me if i left he would kill me. Inwas scared to leave. Thenn idk what happen he held a knife to me because we were arguing. He closed it then through it at my head. I can go on and on i finally became strong and snuck off to a friends and my mom got
Me a ticket out that hell hole. They start out as small stuff i wish i was a lot
Smarter back then. If he is honestly  blowin up your phone, telling
You who you can be friends with, who you cant hang with, everything always your fault, its little red flags do not ignore. No woman should ever feel low and feel like that. It was hard

I found myself in one. I ask myself these questions. Does my partner make me laugh? Do I feel safe and secure knowing he/she would care for me? Am I crying because of what my partner says to me? Can I share my feelings with my partner without being mocked or belittled? Do we argue more, than get along?
