Baby Shower question

Holly • Tue, Aug 11 • 22 years old from Alabama. I have been married to my wonderful husband since Sept. 2012. We have a daughter. Our family was completed when our Son was born in November 2015.

So, I have my shower coming up in about a month or so. My son already has more than enough clothes to get him through the first 9-12 months of his life. My question is, since we have plenty of clothing, would it be rude to ask guests not to buy clothing, but instead to give money or gift cards that will be used to buy the bigger necessities( crib, carseat, crib set, etc.)? Please explain why you think it is or isn't rude. Thanks
