Views on a water birth??

Considering having a water birth. Would like to know everyone's opinion on a water birth? Pros, cons, etc.

I'm going to an in-hospital birthing center with tubs, it was a MUST when picking where to deliver. To put it into perspective, I live in Staten Island, a borough of NYC, and we decided not to deliver at any of the hospitals here on our island because they lacked tubs or even showers!! I have heard how incredible it feels, and how it helps with the pain, and helps improve odds of a natural vaginal birth. Important side note however, I don't think in this birthing center they allow the women toDELIVER in the tub, but allow you to labor up until reAdy to push, so that's good enough for me. I'm so excited! I think you should totally look into it.

I am 40+6 pregnant and I will be doing water birth for ten first time. My midwife Highly recommends it especially if you are wanting a drug free birth. Since the water eases the pain since you are more weightless in water than lying on your back in a bed giving birth. Plus it is more free range of changing positions if you need too. Needless to say I am really excited about trying out water birth, I've heard so many good things!

I had a waterbirth in sept 2014. It was fantastic! At a birthing center with midwives. I started contracting irregularly at 3 am to 9 am. Got to the center at 11, in the tub by 1130. The difference from the minute I was in the pool was amazing! I loved it! You know in the incredibly painful situation. Didn't need to get out of the tub, delivered at 2 pm!

Very pro! I didn't get to use the labor tub with my first but I am really hoping that I get to this time.

For a homebirth or birth at a hospital? There is a birthing center by me that rents out their tubs to women for their homebirth or at the hospital if the hospital cooperates. I'm thinking about using it at the hospital if they allow it
