How long does the pain last?

Question

I am a FTM and I know that labor and delivery of our little Love Bug is going to kick my butt, but I'm wondering how long that pain lasts? I imagine that passing a whole human through my precious vag will leave me quite uncomfortable for a while, but how long should I expect not to be able to sit comfortably?

I walked funny and was pretty sore for about 2 weeks. I tore in 3 places though and all 3 needed to be stiched up. Things didn't start looking normal down there until about 6 weeks (or maybe that's just when I was brave enough to look again after the shock of seeing what everything looked like immediately after birth). It also took 6 weeks for me to regain some control of my bladder. I think most people heal before I did though! Sitz baths, the spray bottle they give you, pain meds, Tucks, and Depends are your friends!

Haha precious vag. 😂 that made me laugh! I delivered a healthy 9lb baby boy in 2012. I tore and got 6 stitches ( I blame the epidural). After leaving the hospital I remember the pain being there mildly around a week after. Mostly while walking. Sitting was no problem. Around two weeks if say I wasn't feeling any pain (even though I still had stitches down there!). It the days right after birth it will be tender and walking will be the worst part probably. Like walking to the car with baby after being discharged from the hospital. That walk was a slow, SLOW walk. Lol they encourage you to walk the very next day after birh. Tylenol should hit the spot and alleviate any pain. Hope this helps. Don't be afraid!

The pain down there was nothing compared to the headaches I had 24/7 while in the hospital and the first week home. I had a wet tap with my epidural and for some dumb reason refused to have blood drawn and placed into my spine so I was discharged and ended up going back because I couldn't even sit up or roll over without my head feeling like it was going to explode. I can't say anything bad for the epidural itself because even though I walked into the hospital almost 6cm dilated, the contractions by the time mess kicked in, I don't think I could have handled without it. But as for vag pain, not bad and usually gone before your 6 week postpartum check up. The only thing I recommend is resting as much as you can (even if not sleeping) so things can heal. And if you do get cut or tear, keep the area clean.

Hmm a few weeks. After that, it's not necessarily all gone but much more tolerable. I just slept when baby slept and I feel like that really helped me, personally, heal.

I don't really remember how long I was in pain - uncomfortable for a longer time bc of bleeding, stitches, etc. I feel like I stopped pain meds (norco) and Advil completely within a week so I guess that's when the pain stopped. I recall feeling pretty much normal by the 6 week appt.

It was only bad for a couple days for me but that was only because I had to be cut and had stitches. Getting out of bed was the worst. But four days after he was born I was walking around Walmart lol.
