Dying your hair... Yes or no?!

What's everyone's opinion on dying their hair while pregnant? I'm 11.5 weeks pregnant with medium brown hair and light highlights. Some people say it's not safe to dye your hair and others say it's fine. I need to redo my hair since my roots are starting to show. What should I do?

I am a pregnant hairstylist and I am completely fine and I work with the chemicals daily. The only reason most say to wait until the 2nd trimester is because some can be smell sensitive and it can make them feel sick if the area isn't well ventilated. But too each their own and I work with several women who have been hairstylist for many years that have kids and they are all completely fine.

This is the most common question on here. I haven't found any research that says it is harmful at any stage of pregnancy. People seem to throw out arbitrary rules like "not in the first trimester" and "just highlights". There is no science to back those suggestions up.

I'm 26 weeks and actually dying my hair as I type this bleach isn't safe but temp colors are fine

My doctor told me to use a cap to do highlights until 12 weeks. Apparently if you get those chemicals on your scalp it goes into your blood stream.

You should wait until you are out of the first trimester then it should be fine. You don't really want it all over your scalp so you should definitely get it professionally done. I have had my hair dyed and had highlights put in while pregnant.
