Does anyone have any opinions on the depo? Thinking of starting it

I was on it for three years! I had no noticeable weight gain, mood changes, or anything else crazy. I didn't spot or bleed for the whole 3 years, which was very nice. I feel like it might have slightly curbed my sex drive because by the 6 month mark after I discontinued, I felt like a teenage boy and was a massive horn dog 😂
But I've been off the shot now for 8 months and just now had my period return. It was convenient for me at the time and I had an overall great experience with it.

I loved not having my period for 3 years from it, but it reacted with another medicine I take, and I ended up gaining like 75 pounds in a year.

It is the worst form of birth control I've ever used. It made my period really heavy and I was really emotional while on it. I finally had enough when my period lasted for 5 months straight (couldn't even have sex because of that, which put a lot of stress on my relationship) my doctor couldn't make it stop using any of the medicine he proscribed and I ended up becoming anemic because of it.

I hated it. After coming off of it last year January 2014. Last injection was Oct 2013. I guess the only good side is it stops your periods and protects you from pregnancy.  I'm lucky after being off of it for 2 years almost 3 years that I'm ovulating and getting periods. I recommend it to those that are completley done with children and don't want anymore.
