Boil? Abscess? Cyst?

I have had a boil or abscess on the inside of my buttcheek for over a year now. I am now 20 weeks pregnant. I have asked several Drs before becoming pregnant about this as it never goes away. They all say it's a boil, harmless and will go away on its own. One gave me antibiotics that didn't work. This Just swells up under the skin, hurts to walk or sit for a few days and than it finally drains slowly for a few days but never heals completely before swelling back up and starting the process all over again. No Dr would do anything for me. Now I have asked my obgyn twice about what I can do for this and that I was worried the infection could hurt my baby. She says it's fine and she will drain it after I have the baby. I am worried, am I crazy or is this thing fine to have while pregnant?!?

Sounds like a Pilobidal Cyst. I have one too. Thankfully mine doesn't swell up like some people but it does hurt like crazy every now and then. Sometimes it will drain a bit and I've been told having it lanced will help the pain. HOWEVER many people I've spoken with who have this say once surgery happens it comes back more often and sometimes worse. Just food for thought. Ideally you want to take hot/warm baths with Epsom salts. They do wonders! Can help to let it naturally drain. Good luck!

This is what I use for boils. Works like a charm. Dab some on a sterile piece of gauze and leave on the boil for a couple of hours. Then add some antibiotic ointment on another piece of sterile gauze and place for a couple on hours. Keep doing this process over and over until the boil is gone. Should only take a couple of days. The ointment in the PIC can be found at CVS or just go to any pharmacy and ask for Drawing Salve. It will bring the boil to a head until it pops. The antibiotic ointment will kill the bacteria. It works wonders for me.

If multiple Drs aren't concerned than it probably isn't. Just make sure you keep it clean. I love hibiclens it's an antiseptic wash I'm not sure if it is pregnancy approved though but it works amazing. Also take a wash cloth and put it under super hot water and lay with it on your boil it should help relieve some of the pain and make swelling go down. Just make sure you don't try to pop it or drain it trying to force stuff out is usually what causes infections and makes it worse

Try putting mint toothpaste on it every night and sleep with it on. Then rinse with a hot compress in the morning.

I've read that warm Epsom salt works on a boil. Soak a towel and place it on the boil for a while and then apply slight pressure to pop it. It's supposed to come out right away. My friends husband got them on his face all the time from shaving.

I'm pretty sure i have the same thing, same place but I usually get one then another then they both just kinda go away but like you said will swell back up. It kills to sit sometimes especially if you sit a certain way! I haven't went to a doctor because I'm embarrassed and also I've had this issue for a while and I think I've narrowed it down to folliculitis
