Offer to pay rent?

Question

I've got a new guy (almost 3 months) but we are attending lots of time together and always at his place.  I've got keys to his place and have left stuff there.  My question is should i offer rent money?  I feel that i should. His finances are tight and I'm there all the time so i feel i should contribute - any thoughts???

I wouldn't offer rent up just yet but I would do other things like stock his groceries, put gas in his car, etc. so you're still contributing. Until my name is on a lease, I wouldn't be paying a dime of the rent as it can get messy

I'm on the other end of this. Especially so early in a relationship. If you want to offer, that's fine, but I wouldn't. It's his home, if he can't afford it, he probably shouldn't live there. If he asks, that's strange to me too. I obviously don't know you guys but I think it's an easy way for a guy to take advantage of a girls monetary situation.

I did other things for my fiancé when we had just started dating but I was there all the time. I bought groceries, cooked for him, did his laundry if I was there and he wasn't. He was working ridiculous hours then, he definitely didn't need help money wise, but I know he appreciated coming home to hot meals and clean sheets. I would just ask your dude if there's anything you can do for him - pay the water bill since you shower there, grab some groceries, etc. He'll be pleased that you're offering anything I think - sign of a selfless partner!

I probably wouldn't offer rent because I've had guys feel kind of "less of a man" if they need help from a girlfriend.  But you could do housework or fill up the fridge and pantry with groceries for him. Things like that to help out without making him feel broke

If you're staying there all the time then yes you should. I would have loved if my SO had done that when he was staying at my apt all the time!

This early in a relationship I wouldn't do it. However, i totally understand how you feel. Maybe you can help out by making dinner for all of you every once so often, or something like that.

Do what you feel in your heart is right, with it being early in your relationship or not. If he takes advantage of the situation then you'll know that this guy isn't for you. But I was raised and relationship or friendship is always 50/50.

Yes, I'm sure he would appreciate it! My BF lives with me in the summer (I own a house) and he lives in the dorms when he's at college. He pays me rent during the summer because he gets paid internships. He visits on the weekends and winter break, but he doesn't have a job then so I don't ask him to pay rent, but he helps with groceries.
