Being induced for GD or not?

Gd with 3 pregnancies, my first I was induced at 38w for high bp, and possible preeclampsia. With my second they said they didn't want me going past 40w and was induced then. With my third I'm also scheduled to be induced at 40w, the idea of going into labor on my own is great but I also like the idea of having a time to come in and having it be a bit planned. Pitocin induced contractions SUCK, but have nothing to compare them to. I have two beautiful boys that were delivered vaginally and looking forward to meeting my little girl in 5weeks!

Initially my dr brought up induction at 39 weeks bc of gd and the risk of "stillborn" but when I pushed back he backed down to discussing induction if I go past my due date. I knew I didn't want an induction for all the typical reasons one might not want pitocin but for me it just didn't feel right. I don't want a fake labor. I want the real thing and I want to experience it all (hopefully drug free) I did my own research on gd and stillborn/placental abruption and found there to be no risk significant enough to outweigh the risks of induction. A lot of routine care with the medical model is not based on current research but outdated or even no research. I prefer to trust my body to do what it was designed to do rather than treat labor like a medical crisis/pathology.

My doc is talking about induction because of GD and high bp..it's a play it by ear situation depending on what my bp decides to do and how baby does on the bi weekly nsts and ultrasounds.

Only if I go past 41 weeks. I'm hoping to not be induced. If I do get induced then I'm caving and getting an epidural. For me, the pitocin contractions are unbearable. But I feel I can do a natural birth if I can skip induction.

I would always error on the side of induction due to the health of the placenta. My OB that  was also a boarded endocrinologist, had stillborn births with GD patients when they didn't induce. His policy was if you started getting low blood sugars towards the due date, it was time to induce. I was okay with that and both my GD kids are healthy 3 and 5 year olds.

Hey ladies! Just wanted to get a general consensus. Personally, I WANT him to come a teeny bit early so I wouldn't be disappointed if my doc discusses induction.
