TTC I NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING

I've been trying to get pregnant forever...I have two kids already 12 and 8 my partner has a 6 yr old I had a miscarriage about 5 yrs ago ever since then nothing.... I had the miscarriage at home and never went to the doctor. WHY CAN'T I GET PREGNANT
