Misoprostol anyone?

My husband and I went in for our 10 week check up. Baby stopped growing at 6 weeks and a few days... Several after our very first ultrasound when we observed the heartbeat. Doctor confirmed miscarriage today with a higher quality ultrasound and prescribed Misoprostol (as well as pain and nauseous meds). Has anyone used this before? What should I expect as far as how quickly it causes discomfort, bleeding, etc? I want to go into work tomorrow but I also want to get this over with so I can heal. Advise appreciated.

I would advise against going to work for the next two days. It causes pretty intense cramps and a lot of bleeding. I took vicodin with it because the doctor told me to. I feel like it was still less intense than getting a d&c

The first cycle of misoprostal didn't work for me. The following week my OB prescribed me with a stronger dosage and to take it more often and to incert it into my vagina. That worked! Everything happened in less than 24 hours. If I were you I'd take Friday off of work so you can recover..

I had it too, along with Percocet during my miscarriage. And taking it I ended up at one point having taken 3 percocet, and still on my hands and knees screaming in a pillow. I had a nightmare of a miscarriage with several complications though. Maybe it won't be too bad for ya! But I would probably take Friday of work if I were you, just to be safe and to recover.

It causes contractions. It is painful. I took the time that I was using it to take the pain meds and sleep through it as much as possible.

I did that first, got cramping, but not much bleeding. I got checked today, and sac was still there so my dr suggested a d&c. I was so scared, but he told me it wasn't as evasive  and I should be able to try in a month or two. I am cramping pretty bad. it's not too bad, I was under anesthesia so that helped

I was only 4 or 5 weeks when I mc, so that may make my experience different. I did use the misoprostol and it worked well for me. I did stay home that day and bleed that day and continued for over a week. The pain for me was not bad and I passed everything the first day for the most part. Good luck to you and I am sorry for your loss. At least now you can start to heal.

2 doses for me,  take in the am and the following day off if you can.  Once it starts it's fine,  but you can't always know when it will take affect our of you have to do a second dose. It's rough on the body,  I needed some "meal supplement" drinks to keep my energy up and not feel gaunt from all the iron (blood) I was losing.  I was 10 weeks,  but baby had stopped developing around 8.

I would probably wait to have ur hcg level back down to 0. And to give ur uterus a break after this devastating loss. To make sure everything is out and then start trying. I live in orlando and i see one of the head doctors for gyn here and he suggested to wait 3-4 months after a mc to start trying again. i was 9weeks with our first baby on my first OB visit and u/s showed my baby without a heartbeat and measuring at 6weeks hold and my hcg levels were at 6week levels. So now im just going to focus on planning our wedding next october and just try again then. Least we know we can get pregnant.... My body never fully passed the baby with the pill (cytotec) so i had an emergancy d&c because my ultrasound showed a lot of clotting and build up on my cervix but the procedure went very well.

I had to take that. My baby stopped growing at just over 8 weeks. My dr suggested I take a few days off and I'm glad I did. It wasn't painful the entire time, but there were times over the course of 3-4 days there were very painful. Plus there is a decent bit of bleeding and that can be uncomfortable at work or in public.
