Hi there!
So you want the test line to be the same or darker shade than the control line to be a positive. 
This is negative, but soon enough! Also it would benefit you to test twice daily. Once sometime in the morning and then again around maybe dinner time, especially if you're close, you don't want to miss your chance of catching the egg.
Lastly it is up to you, not everyone tests twice daily. Best of luck to you! If you have any other questions I'd be glad to answer them. :))

The one on the left I took yesterday and the right I took this morning...why does it seem lighter?

From what I've been reading here it has to be as dark or darker than the control line to be considered positive.
