baby shower

I'm due Feb 26. I just moved 9 hours away from home at the beginning of the year. both mine & my husbands family are there. we've already made the drive 4-5 times back & forth this year. we want to have a baby shower, but don't want to keep making the drive. especially not this year. do you think we should wait until January (when weather is unpredictable) or just send out a registry & have people mail us stuff?
