Did watching deliveries help with anxiety?

Has anyone experienced this? Did watching birthing videos reduce your anxiety about your own upcoming delivery? I'm a very anxious person and I don't know if it would help me or scare the crap out of me!

I think it is sooo helpful to watch those kinds of videos/shows. My first pregnancy 6yrs ago "A Baby Story" was always on. I think I watched every episode during my pregnancy. When it came time I felt like I was ready for anything. I was aware of things that could come up and how they dealt w certain situations. It was so reassuring to me.

I'm a L&D nurse and I would say watching a birth def helps ease my mind because I know what to expect! And I'm not fearful at all of delivering because I know for the most part what will happen:)

I'm the type of person that has to thoroughly research everything, and I've watched birth films and read medical journals, etc. at first they helped me know what to expect and know what sorts of things I'm ok with. Later it just made me obsessive of all the things that could go wrong. So I would say if you're anxious watch a few normal non-complicated births and leave it at that, or you'll end up like me and drive yourself crazy. Lol

I couldn't watch them at first but now being 9 days before my due date I literally watched 10 different ones & it makes me feel a lot more confident. At least now I know what to expect. I mean yes, it's graphic & is hard to imagine that's about to happen to yourself lol but I feel way more prepared now. 😊

I'm taking a childbirth class with my husband and we watch a delivery video every week. It's really helping me!
