Under active thyroid?

Question

Anyone have experience with being diagnosed with under active thyroid while pregnant? I went to the doctor today at 19 weeks and they put me on medication. I was wondering if it's common? Should I be worried? Is it only pregnancy related or have I always had it? Any advice or insight would be great.

I was put on medication while pregnant with my son. I was taken off medication about 3 mo the after having him. They still check my thyroid about twice a year but I haven't needed it again. Be sure to take the medicine though! It is very important to the development of your baby

I got diagnosed at 12 weeks or so and have been on medication ever since. The concern is the brain development of the baby being behind. I am 27 weeks and have been doing fine. I was told I would most likely not need medication after I deliver.
