What is going on??

I've worn contacts since 8th grade. No problems. Last week I woke up with a red left eye. No gunk in the eye, not painful, not swollen, just irritated. Took my contacts out from monday to Saturday...red eye cleared up in a few days with redness drops. Put a new pair of contacts in Saturday..everything was good. Woke up yesterday and bam...red left eye again. It's mainly in the corner..again, no swelling, itchiness, pain, etc. Just redness. Thoughts? It started this month when I started fertilaid. sounds crazy, but I'm wondering if there's a connection.

Well first off, if you're sleeping in your contacts, stop. Despite what the commercials say, you cannot sleep in your lenses. I've worked with ophthalmologists for the last 11 years. It's a bad idea to sleep with the lenses. Very bad. Secondly, don't use the drops "to get the red out". Those aren't great either. Just regular artificial tears. Third, go see your eye doctor. Could be the fit of the lenses. Could be an allergic reaction to something, however both eyes would likely be affected. In the mean time, use regular artificial tears (systane or refresh/optive) and some warm compresses (facecloth soaked in hot water, as hot as you can tolerate, don't burn yourself). Hope that helps

Are you sleeping in them your not suppose to you can get an ulcer in your eye you need to give your eyes a break my husband has to wear contacts for work but his dr said when he is home from work or on the weekends wear his glasses let your eyes breathe

Too much protein buildup on the contacts do that to me as well. A really good clean and rest your eyes from them for a little while and it will be fine. Usually means infection when its very painful.

That sounds like when I've had pink eye. I never had gunk but it was very red. I would suggest throwing out your contacts and switching your eye makeup that you've been using to see if it calms down. Also use lubricating or allergy drops. If not, go to the eye doctor

Could be - some vitamins ( A and B) have an effect to your skin and tear fluid..... BUT it's just ONE eye who reacts like that: I would see my doc... Maybe there is something that should be medicated...
