Nausea medicine? Yes or no?

Question

I have hyperemesis gravidarum or severe morning sickness. I have had to go to the ER a few times just to get fluids. I was then prescribed zofran to help and surprisingly it has helped a ton! 
I made the mistake of posting on Facebook about taking the medicine and many other mommies jumped down my throat to tell me how terrible I was for taking it because it causes birth defects. 
I'd like to know what everyone here thinks. Has anybody used zofran or another nausea medicine and had a child with birth defects?

I've used it and my son has been fine on every check so far. My doctor put it best by saying that a mom who is that sick is a greater risk to the baby than the medicine is. 
Please visit the HER foundation website and especially check out their page on zofran! It gives you the facts- and nothing but. Many people are scared of zofran due to fear mongering lawyer commercials, but if that's the only thing that works for you, it's the only thing that works. 
If you're still worried after looking into it, there are other options. I found a combo of zofran, B6 and unisom worked best for me. I know some mom's take something else but I'm not sure what it was.

I take diclegis every night before bed and promethazine every 4 to 6 hours as needed.  My doctor will not prescribe zofran because of all of the lawsuits going on regarding birth defects.

Even with the 2 medicines I'm taking, my nausea is insanely uncomfortable and I can hardly eat anything.  I'm beyond miserable.  So freaking ready for my first trimester to be over!!!

I'v used it my entire pregnancy and I'm not 28wks and everything looks great. 
My friend loved off it with her last and her baby is now 6months old and perfect.

Third pregnancy on the generic, babies are great. Unless every woman who had a baby with birth defects was on zofran, I wouldn't consider it. Always a risk with anything you take but many things cause birth defects, and our doctors would be much more cautious.

I have HG too, 22nd week and still vomiting like every few hours but I didnt take any medicine yet and I'm planning not to 
Its really really hard since I'm like kinda 'scared' to vomit- I dont even know why- and I feel very weak even the slightest things make we wanna throw up but you kinda get used to it and as long as you dont feel like youre seriously about to die (of course not seriously lol) you should take medicine but talk to your doc first.

If you are still nervous you can try the unison and vitamin d mixture the doctors recommended it to me this time around and it worked also

My aunt was in Zofran with all 4 of her kids & they were all happy & healthy babies. I'm currently on it right now as well and everything seems to be fine so far. I can't guarantee it'll work for you but I can say I'm 99% sure you & your baby will be fine! (:
