bad parent?

In everyone's opinion, do you think you're a bad parent if you smoke marijuana? Not while pregnant but while being a parent.

My SO smokes and he's amazing parent. We don't live together but he would never smoke in front of our daughter.

I don't think you should be high (or drunk) when caring for child. Smoking a j or having a couple drinks before bed isn't a big deal- but if you are stoned or drunk all day you have a serious problem and you need help.

If it's legal in your state, you go right ahead! But second hand smoke is worse than first so PLEASE don't do it around your child. :)

As long as it's "just a treat", you don't do it around your kids and your kids are looked after while you are doing it your not a bad parent in my opinion. Everyone has different ways to relax and as long as your kids are well looked after and safe I think its fine. Personally I don't use it (did when I was a teenager but grew out of it). As it's not legal it's not something I would advise but each to their own!

It doesnt make you a bad parent if you do it right. I feel like it shouldnt be done while the baby/child is home. My hubbys gma is the legal guardian for his 5 yr old cousin and she smokes bowls while his cousin is sitting right there in the living room with her or upstairs in her room playing which i see as very wrong. Ive told my hubby that i dont care if he smokes but it wont be all the time, it will be in the basement or outside away from our daughter, and i will need to be home so i know she is being looked after right since i dont smoke myself.

Lol I just saw this Steve Wilkos episode where the mom was caught on tape BLOWING SMOKE INTO HER INFANTS FACE. I can't believe that. If you smoke around your kids, you are just trash in my opinion. :/

I currently live in an apartment and my neighbour constantly lights up, like CONSTANTLY and I can smell it whenever I open the door to my balcony. Kinda sad my baby will have to smell that -_-

I have no problem with it every once in a while.. But I've seen first hand how this and many other mind altering drugs (including alcohol) affect u (even when ur not currently doing it)  if u do it extremely often. It's nice to want an "escape" or to "feel good" but not around ur children. My personal opinion is if u can count on ur hands how many times u've  smoked weed in a year ur good. If it was legal in my state and I wasn't a nurse I would totally indulge every once in a while ..if it was a responsible situation. :)

My personal opinion is that I don't understand why you'd put yourself or your child in jeapardy by doing something illegal.  Regardless of if I think it's a big deal or if you "just do it every once in a while" or of its "better than being drunk" the fact is that it's illegal.  If you got caught it risks too much.  I don't think it makes you a bad prent but I think it's extremely irresponsible.
