Gestational diabetes

29 weeks and was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes - this totally blindsided me. I was not expecting this news and now all I do is worry. I have gained about 30 pounds (pre pregnancy was 108lbs) so I suppose that explains it...any other moms out there experienced this or going through it now? I've just been on strict salad and protein diets so far- haven't gotten the machine yet to monitor my sugars.
