How does an IUI work ? Is it possible to have done with endo ? Would you try an IUI before trying Ivf?

I have endo. I had a HSG and a Laparascopy done in December.  My specialist seemed very positive. I had a great follicle size and good sperm count. Now in the two week wait. :)

I have endo. 3 yrs ago my fiance & 8 tried fertility treatments. We did 3 rounds of clomid followed by IUI after each round. Our specialist didn't suggest checking my tubes or an analysis on my fiance until after all 3 attempts failed. We feel really gipped by our Dr. These are things that should have been done first. 😢 We spent what money we had saved for those treatments & we don't even know if my tubes are blocked!! We haven't given up bt we haven't done treatments again either. I'm currently taking hormones though.

If you haven't had hsg performed on your tubes, do that. People with endo are more prone to ectopic pregnancy if their tubes are not fully open. If tubes are closed, there is no way the sperm and egg are even going to meet. I would say go IVF and skip IUI if you have any tubal issues. I don't know your exact situation though so you must be your own advocate based on your personal stats.

It probably depends where the endo is.  If it's blocking tubes or stopping the egg from getting to where it needs to an IUI isn't going to overcome that, but IVF might.

I have endo and PCOS my fertility specialist is pushing for the IUI, I will know more after the 28th of this month. I have heard some say if they are gonna spend money to have a baby they would rather go big as in IVF, so who knows, it's really up to you and your SO!
